HARLINGEN EDC & WORKFORCE SOLUTIONS BRING BACK WORKFORCE WEDNESDAY JOB FAIR, OCT. 6

Harlingen, Texas (Sept. 16, 2021) – The Harlingen EDC and Workforce Solutions Cameron launched the Workforce Wednesday Job Fair series in August. That job fair drew nearly 100 job seekers.

The job fairs are an effort to help job seekers connect with employers who are actively hiring after an uncertain year. This job fair will include employers from a wide range of industries opening the opportunity for more people to successfully find a job right for them.

“I would call our last event a success. There were job seekers there at all times and we received great feedback from the employers in attendance,” Rey Tejada, Workforce Solutions Cameron, said of the August 4 event.

The next event will be held Wednesday, Oct. 6, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Harlingen Convention Center, 701 Harlingen Heights Drive, Harlingen. There will be up to 15 employers from various industries that include government, manufacturing, and transportation. The event is free and open to the public. Job seekers are encouraged to dress professionally and bring copies of their resumes.

Tejada and his team at Workforce Solutions Cameron reached out to job seekers and employers for feedback. Employers are eager to participate in job fairs and those who attended the August event remarked that it was one of the better events attended in the last few months.

“We will continue working with employers that have openings waiting to be filled. Our priority is connecting employers to qualified job seekers – that’s the purpose of Workforce Wednesday.” Raudel Garza, Harlingen EDC CEO, said. “Harlingen is centrally located and has the ability to attract a larger workforce from the region, thus making us more attractive to employers.”

The organizations plan to hold these job fairs every other month, the next one will be held in December. There are currently openings for employers to sign up and participate for free.
