Harlingen EDC, Workforce Solutions Cameron announce Harlingen Hires Virtual Job Fair to be held in April, Seeking Employers

HARLINGEN, TEXAS (MARCH 5, 2021) – The Harlingen Economic Development Corporation and Workforce Solutions Cameron are working on a major virtual job fair to be held Thursday, April 29, 9 a.m. to noon.

The Harlingen EDC-sponsored event was first planned as an in-person event to be held in April of 2020, but due to the pandemic the event was canceled, Selene Guerrero, Harlingen EDC marketing manager, said.

“We are hoping to have at least 30 employers,” Guerrero added.

“In recent virtual events Workforce Solutions has held, they have had about 400 job seekers attend and we are hoping for that same kind of success.”

The virtual event will offer job seekers a variety of options for employment, from working with larger companies to working with small businesses.

If you are interested in participating as an employer, Workforce Solutions is currently recruiting Harlingen and Cameron County-based employers. “The pandemic has increased unemployment rates throughout the county and this event is an excellent opportunity to virtually place job seekers before employers,” Harlingen EDC CEO, Raudel Garza said.

“Individuals are seeking employment and we have a strong and skilled workforce ready to fill those positions. The Harlingen Hires Job Fair will be the perfect event to help place qualified people in good jobs.”
