Local businesses receive site improvement grant

HARLINGEN, TEXAS (June 8, 2020) – The small business site improvement and job retention grant was offered by the Harlingen EDC, and applications opened in January 2020. The program provided financial assistance of $1,500 for site and property improvements to eligible commercial businesses or property owners. The grant was to be used for renovation costs that were incurred from June 1, 2019, to May 31, 2020 due to flooding that occurred in June of 2019.

There were four eligible business owners who received the grant. Business owners included Roy Garrison III of Hurricane Fence Company, Ken Soles, landlord, Richardo Rodriguez, Small Business Computer Services, and Maria Cortez, Mari’s Beauty and Barber Shop.
