HARLINGEN, TEXAS (Sept. 20, 2019) – The Harlingen Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated 100 years at an event held Thursday, Sept. 19 at the TSTC Cultural Arts Center.
Chamber President & CEO Chris Gonzales opened the centennial event by taking a moment to remember David Allex, who recently passed away and who was a major figure and advocate for the success and growth of Harlingen.
The event presented awards to Director of the Year, Ricky Leal; Ambassador of the Year, Shirley Bralley; and Col. Glenn Hill of MMA Harlingen received the Heritage Award. The evening also included an introduction to the new Harlingen Area Chamber Chairperson, Dr. Bonnie Villarreal Dr. Villarreal discussed upcoming initiatives that will focus on Harlingen’s healthcare sector, soft skills training for Millennials, and encouraging the growth of female leaders in the community.
Keynote speaker Val LaMantia Peisen, L&F Distributors and Favorite Brands partner/owner, closed out the event.
