Harlingen EDC Launches Aerotropolis Video
This video was produced for the Harlingen Economic Development Corporation in an effort to promote the Harlingen Aerotropolis at Valley International Airport. The Harlingen Aerotropolis is a 479-acre, shovel-ready site adjacent to the airport. It has been designated as a Certified Site by McCallum Sweeney Consultants, one of the world’s leading site selection and economic consulting firms.
The video lauds the site as the premier manufacturing destination in South Texas. The development plan for the Aerotropolis incorporates a mixed use for the property that includes manufacturing, warehouse, office and retail purposes. In addition, logistics, transportation and other industries will be able to take advantage of its strategic location. Raudel Garza, manager and CEO for the Harlingen EDC states that the proximity of the Aerotropolis to the Port of Harlingen, the Port of Brownsville, State Highway 550, the Los Indios Free Trade Bridge and the Valley International Airport makes it the ideal location for both local and global manufacturing companies. “Harlingen is located in the middle of the Rio Grande Valley, one of the fastest growing regions in the United States. Where else can you enjoy a great quality of life, low cost of living, and a year-round tropical climate? Over four hundred manufacturers have already discovered that in South Texas and Northern Mexico.”
United Launch Alliance, which is also featured in the video, is already a partner of the Valley International Airport and is located adjacent to the Aerotropolis. “We were looking for a place with very high quality workers, with a great cost of doing business and with a community that was very supportive. In Harlingen, we found all three,” said Dan Collins, Chief Operating Officer with United Launch Alliance.
The Harlingen Aerotropolis is home to the new aerospace cluster in South Texas. With SpaceX building a new launch facility in Brownsville, and United Launch Alliance building rocket components in Harlingen, the Harlingen Aerotropolis is well-positioned to be the next home for the aeronautical and aerospace industry in South Texas.

Garza also wished to thank Ray Covey, Manager of Economic and Business Development for AEP Texas for partnering with the EDC on the Certified Site designation and the video for the Aerotropolis.
