HARLINGEN, TEXAS (OCT. 15, 2019) – Ten Harlingen-based entrepreneurs began the Harlingen EDC sponsored Kauffman FastTrac program last week. The courses are offered through the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s Entrepreneurship Commercialization Center.
“We are excited to bring back the program to Harlingen, it’s a great asset for all business owners,” Maria Villalon, UTRGV Economic Development and facilitator, said.
Villalon added that business owners don’t understand that there are two types of planning: business planning and effective business planning. Kauffman FastTrac gives entrepreneurs effective business planning, she said.
The participants are focusing on specific topics that include:
- Identify market needs
- Understand business fundamentals
- Explore risk and success factors
- Network with entrepreneurship professionals
- Build a business plan
- Access the human, financial, and business retention
“As a current business owner, I am here for continued education,” Jeanie Diaz, Kauffman FastTrac participant, said.
“I have been out of the loop for a long time and I want to learn new concepts and how I can apply them to my business.”
Classes meet once a week and continue through Tuesday, Nov. 12, a Spring of 2020 will be offered.
