LongHorn Steakhouse to Open in Harlingen
Ribbon Cutting Set for December 3
Harlingen, TEXAS – November 28, 2012 – LongHorn Steakhouse, in partnership with the Harlingen Economic Development Corporation, will celebrate the opening of LongHorn’s newest restaurant with a ribbon cutting ceremony scheduled to take place on December 3 at 3:00 p.m. The restaurant will be located at 106 Bass Pro Drive and will be led by Managing Partner Rolando Rivera.
LongHorn Steakhouse prides itself on providing guests with a cut-above steakhouse experience through its food – most notably fresh, never frozen, expertly grilled, boldly seasoned steaks – and friendly service, all in a setting that celebrates the rugged landscape of the American West. With a goal of becoming America’s favorite steakhouse, LongHorn currently operates more than 400 restaurants in 36 states.
“We look forward to joining the Harlingen community and all of our retail neighbors at the Cameron Crossing center,” said Peter Sabatino, Director of Operations for LongHorn Steakhouse. “Darden Restaurants saw Harlingen as a city with long-term growth potential, and we are honored by the outstanding support we’ve received from the community.”
The 6,270-square foot restaurant will seat more than 240 guests and will create approximately 80-100 new jobs for the surrounding community. It represents a 20-plus year commitment to the surrounding neighborhood and local residents.
“The opening of LongHorn Steakhouse is part of our strategic mission to make Harlingen an attractive destination for regional shoppers, while improving quality of life for our citizens.” said Rick Ledesma, President of the Harlingen Economic Development Corporation. “The opening demonstrates the strong momentum for growth around Bass Pro Shops. The Harlingen EDC is working with numerous retailers, restaurants and hotels now interested in coming to Harlingen.”
In 2012, Harlingen experienced a dramatic jump in retail sales of approximately 9 percent, which translates to over $1 billion in total retail sales. Harlingen also has many retail options like Cameron Crossing, Harlingen Heights, Harlingen Corners and Valle Vista Mall, to name a few. Retailers are starting to take notice that Harlingen is an attractive location for their business.
