One giant leap for mankind and Harlingen’s footprint in space

 

HARLINGEN, TEXAS (JULY 20, 2019) – On July 20, 1969 Commander Neil Armstrong and lunar module pilot Buzz Aldrin landed Apollo Lunar Module Eagle. Armstrong became the first person to step on the lunar surface and spoke the famous words: That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.

The advancement of space exploration continues and here in Harlingen, we are part of that exploration. United Launch Alliance, located on Airport Drive, builds rockets like the Delta IV and Atlas V rockets that are used by NASA and the U.S. Air Force.

The state-of-the-art production facility in Harlingen is a joint venture between aerospace giants Boeing and Lockheed Martin and has been operating in Harlingen for more than 25 years.
