Success Story

United Launch Alliance (ULA)

A joint venture between aerospace giants Boeing and Lockheed Martin, the United Launch Alliance has been in operations in Harlingen for over 30 years. The company has successfully delivered more than 130 satellites to orbit that provide important capabilities for the U.S. forces, aid in tracking severe weather, and enable personal device-based GPS navigation.

In 2015, the Harlingen EDC and the city of Harlingen created a development agreement with the ULA to renew its lease at the 350,000 square foot plant within the Valley International Airport. In 2019, ULA once again extended its agreement to continue operations for another five years. The company employees approximately 100 individuals.

ULA works closely with the community and is a partner with Texas State Technical College Harlingen (TSTC) as well as local school districts, with many ULA employees once TSTC students. This partnership has also allowed TSTC’s program curriculums to closely follow changes in the industry.
